Overview
Our client, a well-established construction company based in Burnaby, is seeking a motivated Project Accountant to join their growing finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to develop their career within a collaborative and supportive environment, with exposure to project accounting, financial analysis and business partnering.
Reporting to the Controller, you’ll initially support day-to-day accounting activities before progressing into project accounting, budgeting and financial reporting responsibilities as you become established within the team.
What You’ll Do
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable while ensuring accuracy and timely completion of daily accounting activities.
- Support project accounting, including project cost tracking, reconciliations, budgeting and financial reporting.
- Assist with month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
- Work closely with operational teams to provide financial insights that help drive project performance and support business decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing finance team.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of accounting experience, ideally within construction, project-based or related industries.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to build relationships across finance and operations.
- Self-motivated, adaptable and able to work independently with minimal supervision while following established processes.
- Experience using Acumatica ERP is highly desirable.
- CPA designation (or progress toward one), cross-border (Canada/U.S.) accounting experience or PCP certification are considered assets but are not required.
