Overview
Our client, a growing and dynamic organization based in Vancouver, is seeking an experienced Controller to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting leader who enjoys combining technical expertise with process improvement, team leadership, and operational problem-solving.
Reporting to senior leadership, the Controller will take ownership of financial reporting, month-end processes, accounting operations, and team development while identifying opportunities to improve systems, workflows, and overall finance efficiency.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building structure where needed, and is motivated by the opportunity to grow into broader finance leadership responsibilities, including FP&A, forecasting, and strategic business support.
What You’ll Do
- Own the month-end close process, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and preparation of accurate financial statements and supporting workpapers.
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members by providing guidance, feedback, and support to improve performance and accountability.
- Review existing accounting processes and identify opportunities to improve workflows, strengthen controls, and increase efficiency through technology, automation, and modern finance tools.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights, investigate variances, and support informed business decision-making.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, KPI reporting, and broader financial planning initiatives as the organization continues to grow.
Qualifications
- CPA designation with 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accounting leadership responsibilities.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge with proven experience managing month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and GAAP-compliant reporting.
- Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, and developing accounting professionals with the ability to build accountability and improve team performance.
- A continuous improvement mindset with examples of improving processes, implementing systems, or leveraging automation and technology to increase efficiency.
- Experience working in a dynamic environment such as a growing company, multi-entity organization, or fast-paced service-based business.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence stakeholders at all levels.
