The Senior Accounting Manager plays a key leadership role within the Finance & Accounting function, overseeing financial reporting, internal controls, and the day‑to‑day operations of the accounting team. This position is responsible for delivering accurate, timely financial statements, ensuring strong governance over cash and trust accounts, and supporting strategic decision‑making through high‑quality analysis. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, proven people‑leadership experience, and the ability to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, ensuring efficient workflows, strong performance, and a collaborative team culture.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with ASPE.
- Manage cash flow, trust reconciliations, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and maintain financial integrity.
- Partner with senior leadership to support audits, regulatory reporting, financial analysis, and strategic initiatives such as pricing, capital planning, and contract evaluation.
- Drive continuous improvement by enhancing accounting processes, systems, and reporting tools to support organizational growth and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Post‑secondary degree in Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CPA designation with 5+ years of post‑designation industry experience.
- Proven experience managing accounting teams and overseeing full‑cycle accounting operations.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Advanced Excel proficiency and comfort working with financial systems; experience in insurance or broker management systems is an asset.
