Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to lead our accounting and financial reporting functions. The Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, internal controls, and regulatory compliance. This role will work closely with senior leadership in Delta, B.C. to support strategic decision-making and drive financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Analyze financial results and provide insights to management.
  • Manage the annual budgeting and forecasting process.

Accounting Operations

  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial records and reconciliations.

Cash Flow & Treasury Management

  • Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity requirements.
  • Manage banking relationships and financing arrangements.
  • Develop strategies to optimize cash management and profitability.

Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Maintain and strengthen internal control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, transportation industry requirements, and financial policies.
  • Coordinate external audits and regulatory reporting.

Operational & Strategic Support

  • Partner with operations leadership to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including fleet utilization, fuel costs, maintenance expenses, and freight profitability.
  • Support business growth initiatives, acquisitions, and process improvement projects.
  • Develop financial models and business analyses to support strategic planning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation required or strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
  • Experience in transportation, logistics, freight, distribution, or supply chain industries preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, Quickbooks and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Multi-location operations.
  • Fleet accounting and transportation cost analysis.
  • Fuel tax reporting, regulatory compliance, and operational KPI reporting.
  • Experience managing accounting teams.
